Newborns in Need started in Houston, Missouri as the mission of one woman who wanted to change the world. Today, Newborns in Need is headquartered in Pfafftown, North Carolina and is dedicated to making a baby’s introduction into the world one complete with basic necessities and as stress free as possible for the family. Programs offered by Newborns in Need:
Baby Necessities -- We provide quilts, afghans, blankets, baby hygiene products, toys and comfort items, sleepers, gowns, t-shirts, hats and booties and many other basic essential baby items.. So many babies are born into families living at or below the poverty level - our goal is to help as many as we can
Bereavement Program -- Providing complete layettes for infant demise is our saddest task but we acknowledge each life that touches our hearts. Memorial items such as teddy bears and keepsake envelopes are provided to the family to have something to keep close by to honor the life that was gone too soon.
Premature Baby Support -- Babies arriving early sometimes create challenges when families are not prepared. We provide 3-5 lb baby clothing, preemie diapers and smaller blankets and hats to fit the new tiny bundle. Multiple births can stretch available funds and we provide baskets packed to support each newborn child.
Stroller Program -- Newborns in Need, in cooperation with Baby Planet, participates in recycling baby strollers. Many of our chapters have facilities that will accept clean strollers in good condition.
Kids Who Care Program - engaging kids in helping through community service. There are many ways to involve young people in helping babies. The enthusiasm and energy of youth who participate in helping the needy is awesome to watch and both groups benefit.
